What our players have to say!

Well new to K.A.N.A.R. last year I am not new to LARP in the least and I had more fun at my K.A.N.A.R events in 2022 then I had for the past few years at other LARPs.
— Emily P.
I’ll never forget the night I watched the undead close on me though the fog. Magical, terrifying, transporting. In that moment it was real.

An immersive community where your own larp skills develop and you can join community adventures.

 Be your own personal badass.
— Kay B.
This is a game and a community that I’ve felt very welcomed to, being a new player to not only Kanar but larping in general. If you like to be a fun character with a bunch of people in the woods for hours on end, this is a great place!
— Amanda D.
I have been playing KANAR for almost a decade. In that time I have shed tears at the loss of a comrade, experienced the laughter of divine comedy, and the radiant joy of saving the world at large and the world of a single person. It’s a place to explore both the outer worlds of stories and people and places, but also the inner worlds of thought, feeling, and ambition. Illveresh is a place everyone should get lost looking for at least once.

KANAR/Live Action Role Playing- The quickest way to gain 30-80 new friends and life changing memories in one weekend.
— Maria K.
Amazing game with an even better community.
— Joshua A.
Kanar really reminded me how much I love story telling. Coming home and telling stories of the epic tales of knights and what not to my children always brings a smile to their face. Acting and story telling has always been one of my favorite forms of art and Kanar does allow me to dive into it using my whole body, not just my brain.
— Luke R.
I grew up enjoying telling ghost stories around the camp fire at night. Now I get to actually battle ghosts around a camp fire at night!
— Eliza A.
As a new LARPer right before a worldwide pandemic hit, KANAR has grasped my attention, and kept it. Despite going virtual for a year and a half, I happily returned to live events, excited to continue my LARP journey. The comradery and friendships I have gained from playing this game will last me a lifetime.
— Parisa A.
Great Community. Great Escape, and a great way to defy the rain!
— Thomas C.
This has been the first time that I have felt, in my life, truly myself.
— Alisha M.
KANAR has been an amazing addition to my life since I started playing two years ago. I enjoy the camaraderie of the players and the cultural elements of the different camps. Stepping onto the field, whether during a game or between events is a magical feeling, made possible by the community we’ve built together.
— Alicia S.
It has shown itself to be one of the less toxic larps with a large inclusive player base.  The feeling of community is great here!
— Glen A.
Kanar has been the one place where you could be anything you’d want to be.
— Shannon L.
Kanar is a great game for those who want to experience that table top gaming experience in a physical realm. It has a deep history and great community to pull you in and keep you hooked.
— Angelo A.
Nothing is a better stress relief than wacking a friend with a foam stick.
— James A.
I was apprehensive when I first came to Kanar. I didn’t have much experience in Larping yet and I was concerned that I wouldn’t fit into this world. The member base were absolutely amazing! Helpful, friendly and beautifully unafraid to act out the most insane scenarios. I have found my people or perhaps they found me.
— Rebecca C.
Through Kanar I have found a group of friends that have quickly become like family to me. They have become a vital support system to me outside of game and I love them so much. Life has been extremely difficult for me, especially with the passing of my Father. Melissa, Steve, David, and Logan along with so many others have helped me take care of myself and still find joy through this pain.
— Angelina R.
KANAR has been my gateway to the larp world. It is a game I cherish and I highly encourage others to try it.
— Lily L.
Yes Kanar was my first larping experience. Now five years in I travel larp all over the world. Without the love of larping kanar instilled in me I highly doubt I would be as invested in this amazing community as I am today.
— Marcus S.
Kanar is the place we’re you can fight epic monsters both out in the wilderness or in the camp next door. We’re Heros can become  legends or villains can become monsters. Kanar were a group of strangers can become a house or even better a family.
— Erik N.
The fighting is exhilarating and the stories told are full of wonder and mystery that make you want to go adventuring to make your own.
— Kerstin L.
After playing  For a full year  I can say that this game has helped me make new friends and help me in problem solving skills sometimes with a sword.
— Matthew B.
Kanar is a great setting to explore and immerse yourself in a world created by 30 years of collective imagination.
— Zach Z.
Playing Kanar has helped me cope with trauma, learn to deal with conflict, encouraged my woodcraft and physical fitness, expanded my philosophical horizons, taught me to lead and teach, and created lifelong community and friends. All of these things are good reasons to exist and to thrive, and have kept my inner child alive and well. Thanks for the memories KGE ♡
— Scott M.
Kanar is something truly unique. You can step not just into a world, but really shape it and play any role you like. You can be a hero, a villain, a shop keep, or anything in between.
— Kevin R.
A good way to brush off the day to day.
— Erik P.
I am always able to find interesting conversations and someone to teach me a skill when I attend an event.
— Jan A.
The world tapestry of Kanar did not arise fully formed from the creative mind of a few. Rather, kanar’s rich and colorful history was woven thread by thread through over 20 years of interaction between more than a thousand different PCs. It is this depth of character, combined with a solid base in historical reenactment, that has set kanar apart from all the rest.
