Winter Announcements (3.25)

03.25 - Important Safety Field Ruling – Effective March 28, 2025

Good evening, everyone,

We would like to announce a new Safety Field Ruling that will take effect on March 28, 2025.

Players who choose to be non-combatant ("non-coms") for personal reasons, or those designated as non-coms by a Safety Response Team member, will retain this status for a mandatory 24-hour period. During this time, players must notify one of the Safety Staff members—Safety 1st, Safety 2nd, or Safety 3rd. The current Safety Staff members are as follows:

Parisa Anahid – Safety 1st

Melissa Jones – Safety 2nd

Marcus Schwimmer – Safety 3rd

In cases where a Safety Staff member is unavailable on the field, non-coms are required to inform a member of the Board of Directors (BOD).

Should a player wish to reduce their 24-hour non-com period, they must discuss the matter directly with one of the Safety Staff members mentioned above.

Additionally, Non-Com sashes are available in the Safety Shed and will be distributed to players as needed. These sashes must be returned to the Safety Staff once the player's non-com status is no longer applicable.

Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.

Parisa Anahid, Safety 1st

03.20 - Worldbook Update

The Worldbook team has also been hard at work over the winter, and we’re pleased to say we’re on schedule with the first few stages of creating reference materials for our game world! So far our new features include:

  • A grid overlay for the Kingdom map, making it easier to find locations throughout Novashan and keep track of where your adventures are happening.

  • Location information pages for towns and cities in the Kingdom, including information about populations, local resources, attractions, specialty schools, and research libraries.

  • Alpha-stage Between-Events Governing systems to track and reward players’ Governing signouts.

The next stage for our Location pages is to ask you, the players, to help us compile lists of local historic events from the plots and adventures we’ve had over the last 40 years. One of Kanar’s biggest strengths has always been the memories we take home with us; this will be your chance to help us collect those memories in one place so they can be incorporated into the stories we tell today.

We’ll make an announcement when we’re officially open for player contributions, so keep an eye out!

03.19 - New player revamp

Hey everyone! Quick update on the New player revamp!

Thanks to everyone that has been peer reviewed, or helped create pieces for this new process. We hope to continue the hard work and have something to show around the March event.

This new look will include:
An updated web approach - focusing more on the digital advantages we have.
A new mentorship program.
An extensive New Player help guide - working with the hard work some awesome members already did, and adding updated information and topics requested by members. Including a work instruction for sign outs and crafting!

We hope that this will make new player experiences just that much better! More updates to come. And we cannot wait for your feedback!

03.19 - Crafting Overhaul

We hope you’re getting geared up for the season, which is just a few short weeks away. Don’t forget to start prepping your kits, cleaning out your cars, and packing your gear for the fun year we have in store for you! We have a lot of updates coming this year, which we hope will make gameplay more smooth and enjoyable for everyone.

Starting off, we have an announcement about the crafting system overhaul that we’ve been working on over the winter. Our crafting team has been plugging away at our updated crafting system, but unfortunately we will not have it ready to playtest by the first event of the season. We want to make sure we have a complete, comprehensive guide before we begin our playtest, so we do not want to release a partly finished product. However, we do have a few little sneak peaks for you. Our crafting update will include:

● Updated and standardized material list
● Updated on-field crafting rules
● Recipes for each craft and item creation skill
● Update and standardization of gathering materials
● And more!

This will be a major change to our economics system, so we will be announcing when the playtest will begin and release information to the membership before the event we plan to start the playtest. We will also host a town hall meeting over Discord for those who wish to ask questions or get clarification before the playtest begins. Please wait to give feedback on the new crafting system until after the first event playtest.

03.10 - BLD Workday on 3/16/25

Hello everyone! There will be another double BLD XP workday this Sunday the 16th from 10am until 4pm. Come on out and help drag brush and stack wood and get you some of that satisfying double BLD XP! I will also be willing to teach others how to use the chainsaw, if you want to learn.

We are watching the weather to see if we are going to do a workday on Saturday the 15th. Right now, it looks like rain, but we will keep you informed via this post as the week goes on.

Remember to bring a pair of gloves if you have them because your hands will thank you later!

Let's make a day of it!

See you on field, Marcus Schwimmer BLD 1st

03.02 - BLD Tree Management

Tomorrow (Sunday) from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm there will be a double BLD XP workday. Come and help us drag brush and stack wood.

My 76 year old father will be out and that's always a good time as you watch him telling me I am using a chainsaw wrong. I overdid it today so I realistically have 2-3 hours of chainsaw work in me so I will be HAPPY to teach others how to do it.

See you on field! Marcus Schwimmer BLD1st

02.27 - Pre-Season Reminders and Book Keeping

Hello everyone, I hope everyone has wintered well. With the March event fast approaching I wanted to remind everyone of the following

  1. The Building and Land Director 1st position is open until April 13th, if you have any interest in the position please read over the positions standard operating procedures and then email the board. Requirements apply, please read them under section 7 of 1.3-KGE-SPS 25.01
  1. 2025 Season passes are available. Remember "Purchase of a Season Pass comes with the benefits associated with attendance." So if you have a season pass and miss an event you will still be able to complete a sign-out for experience, between event actions, and learning skills in town. Seasson Pass
  1. Annual Registration Form and Membership. Please fill out your ARF and purchase your Membership so you can participate in club activities. They both must be done before you can participate, ARF & Membership
  1. Our Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) updates. Our SOP's have been updated and reconciled with changes made in the January board meeting if you missed Januarys board meeting here are the Minutes.
  1. The 2025 Season experience changes are now in effect.

P.S. Remember to review our rulebooks, and anything important for your character before you hit the field in March. It will make things a lot easier if you take a look now, and from personal experience finding your kit now instead of the day before will save you a major headache.

Looking forward to a wonderful season full of fun and adventure.

~Christian Colarossi, K.A.N.A.R. Corporate Secretary

01.17 - Forestry Update

Hello!

Starting early next week, loggers will be on the property and will be working for approximately 3 weeks, weather depending. Their focus will be on NPC land, on our northern property line.

If any member is going to be on field at this time, please do not block any of the roads or interfere with their work. Please, take their direction if they request you wait for them or move, etc. We are currently unsure if they will be taking up room in the parking lot, but for safety reasons be sure to speak with a worker before driving onto the field.

Thank you for your time!
 BLD Department

01.13 - Crafting for Coin Change

Hello everyone!

Good news from the Econ Staff! We have been discussing ways we can improve the economy in our game. Our first solution is to increase the pay received from crafting between events. Since we released this change after the item creation form was due, we are accepting changes to winter crafting for those who want to make coin instead of what they previously submitted. If you would like to change to “crafting for the kingdom,” please email us at econ@kanar.club and submit a new item creation form by January 20th.
