Missing NPC Weapons
Attention Kanar players,
Quartermaster 1st here If you have an NPC weapon, please reach out to me so that it might be returned. Those weapons in front of the Quartermaster shed (next to the Game master shed) are loaners only. They are not for you to keep. If you come across a weapon thats not yours please please please reach out to me. Most NPC weapons are marked with pink tape, so if you see one laying around, lets get it back into inventory so that other club members can also use them while they NPC.
That said, if the weapons are not found/returned by next event, there will be a weapon signout system implemented. If weapons going missing continues to be a problem, we may have to reevaluate using high quality weapons and revert back to the use of boffer weapons.

Tag submission guidelines
I hope everyone had a great event!
I wanted to reach out with a few clarifications and requests regarding tag submissions for printing. Following these guidelines will help ensure your tags are printed accurately and in a timely manner.
1. Normal Tags / Consumables
Please complete the form as thoroughly as possible. If you cannot read a tag, please see me on the field or email Econ@kanar.club with a clear picture of the tag.
Please avoid using responses such as "N/A," "No Idea," or "Unknown" in required fields whenever possible.
When filling out the description, please write it exactly as you would like it to appear on the printed tag. Whenever possible, use the wording found in the Rulebook.
2. Magic Items
Any item with Glyphs or Runes should be submitted under the Magic Items tab.
Please include the item's complete description.
Activation phrases do not need to be printed on the tag; however, you must keep a separate sheet of paper with the activation phrases written on it and stored with the tag.
3. Enchanting Only Tab
First, I'd like to apologize. These tags have been overlooked recently, and I will be more diligent moving forward. Following the guidelines below will make the process much easier for everyone.
When using Orichalcum, please continue using the # / # format (for example, 5 / 5 days or 5 / 5 hours).
Please write the full description exactly as it should appear on the printed tag.
Use the Notes section to indicate the status of the enchantment by writing one of the following:
"Not complete - Do not print"
"Enchantment complete - Starting another - Do not print"
"Complete - Please print"
Please also use the Notes section to explain what is being added to the item (for example: "Adding +3 Damage.").
If everyone follows these guidelines, the tag-printing process will run much more smoothly, and everyone's tags will be correct and available in a timely manner.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this and for helping make the process easier for everyone. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!

Thank you all who could attend the Town Hall last Sunday.
For those who could attend (online or in person) don't forget to submit your time with the inbetween XP events form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScPW0DbVc_uAkmm1Nw9FaQJuTTT0s6BOr8Ok7p14nrxvl-wUA/viewform

07.28 - Lore sign-outs
Hello everyone!
Just want to give a reminder about changing lores to their updated versions. While you have till the September event to complete this, we ask that we all start the processes sooner. When you complete your sign out, we ask that in the CBM comments you tell us which direction you would like to go with your lores.
There are three ways you can do it:
First: the CBM staff can relocate your lores into the condensed category it goes into. We will give xp back to for any removed or duplicate lores. (Please don’t hesitate to inquire on which one it might fall under as well)
Second: you can get your XP refunded if you don’t want the lore anymore or if your lore is a multiple in a condensed category. (Example culture lore common elven and culture lore forest elven both fall under culture lore Ashan. You can move one to culture lore Ashan and refund the second one’s Xp.
Third: you can change your lores to another lore in the same category. (Example, if you already have a culture lore specialization, you can choose a different culture lore specialization you don’t already have.)
As always if you have any questions at all on this please send an email to CBM@kanar.club. I will get to them as soon as possible.

07.21 - Sign outs.
Hello everyone,
Your weeklong and RPOE event sign outs are completed. As always if you have any issues or inquiries please don’t hesitate to reach out to the CBM staff.
Look forward to see you all this weekend. Melissa Jones CBM 1st
07.20 - Lore Changes
Hello Everyone,
As promised I have completed the Lore list. The new lore list has condensed several lores down, fixed missed spelling, multiples of the same lore, and placed lores back into correct categories. As we start to go through this list for each player, we are going to look at the lores you have and see if they fit into a section on the new list. Please go through this list, look at what's available to you.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NqLdZziyX8-GGRahrthr3NYupEDJgw0LHnoce8LR98c/edit?usp=sharing
After the July event, we ask that every player put in the CBM notes if they want the XP back or if they are looking for a replacement lore. We will be only offering replacement lore through this process and once it is complete you will not be able to change lores around, the lore will be removed and XP granted back. This process is expected to be done by the September event, so please let us know what you would like.
When it comes to the subclass lores, we have not removed specific lore tied to subclasses. However, if you have a general lore requirement and your lore has been removed, it is on you the player to replace the general lore to keep the subclass. The subclass will go into an inactive status until you meet the requirements for it again. So please let us know what you wish to change the lore to so you can keep the requirement.
Finally, If you wish to create new lores, you may still do so. But it will no longer be done through the sign out process. All new lores created should be emailed to the GM@kanar.club for approval. Once the GM approves the lore, they will send the information over to the CBM team and we will make it available to learn.
As always, we are always here to answer any questions you may have. Please don't hesitate to reach out to the CBM team.
Thank you

07.17 - Air Quality - Safety Message
As I'm sure you're all aware, the wild fires in Canada have caused hazardous air quality in Michigan. Please be aware of the following precautions taken from https://www.michigan.gov/egle/newsroom/press-releases/2026/07/16/michigan-air-quality-impacted-by-smoke-and-fires-this-week
Stay Safe!
Do:
- Close windows and minimize the opening of outside doors.
- If HVAC systems are not equipped with MERV-13 filters or higher, use portable air cleaners to maintain good indoor air quality.
- If possible, close the outdoor air intake on air conditioners.
- If you don't have a portable air cleaner, consider creating a DIY Air Cleaner. If you do not already have the materials on hand and must go outside to purchase them, follow masking recommendations below.
Do not:
- Burn candles
- Use vacuums without a HEPA filter
- Use gas stoves more than necessary
- Smoke
- Spray aerosol products
- Activities
Outdoor activities should be rescheduled or moved inside. When possible, make accommodations for employees to work inside with proper HVAC systems and high efficiency air filters. Contact MiOSHA for more information or to file a complaint.
If you must be outdoors for short periods of time, Seek medical care if you or someone else is experiencing these symptoms: shortness of breath, constant or severe coughing, chest pain, dizziness or any type of change in consciousness/confusion or worsening of any chronic conditions.
MDHHS urges residents to monitor air quality conditions in their area and adjust their level of physical activity and take protective actions according to the guidance at the Your Health and Wildfire Smoke webpage
07.10 - Field Reopened
From the office of the BLD team,
The field is back to being open to members. I will be out both Saturday and Sunday working on clean up and other issues. The bld staff could use extra hands and help. No specific skill set needed. There is many different things to do. I will.get to field approx by 10am.both days.
Also the BOD has approved monies to be spent to get some damaged tree limbs dealt with. I will be calling a tree person to come.out prior to the event.
Sincerely, Rob Hubbard BLD 1
07.10 - Public Representation
I want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone in our community. One of my favorite things to see is members getting together outside of game whether that's grabbing a meal, attending events, or just spending time together. It speaks to the friendships that have grown through our club.
That said, I'd like to remind everyone that when we're out together in garb, especially around the Milan area, we're also representing our club. The way we interact with others reflects on all of us.
We've worked on building a reputation of being a welcoming, respectful, and positive part of the community and I'd love to see us continue that. Please be mindful of how you treat restaurant staff, business owners, other patrons, and anyone else you encounter. A positive interaction can leave someone curious about who we are and maybe even encourage them to come check us out. Likewise, a negative interaction can have the opposite effect.
Thank you all for helping make our community something we're proud to be a part of, both on and off the field.
Erich Okonowski President, KGE
07.04 - Safety Announcement from BoD
Hello KGE members. After the storms last night the field has been left with severe damage. As a safety precaution the board of directors has decided to shut down the field temporarily until BLD 1 Rob Hubbard can make a final determination. Until further notice, only authorized staff are to be on the field. Thank you for your cooperation
07.03 - Voting Emails
Hello Fellow KGE Members,
This morning an email was sent to our veteran members containing a link to vote in our Board of Directors election. The subject line of the email should be: "Vote Now: Kanar Gaming Enterprise Inc. - 2026 Board of Directiors Election." (I am aware that I misspelled "Directors" in the original email, and I apologize for the error.)
If you did not receive this email and believe you should have, please first check your spam or junk folder. If you still cannot locate it please contact me at president@kanar.club and I will be happy to look into the issue.
Voting will remain open until 11:59 PM on Friday, July 10. An email announcing the election results should be sent shortly thereafter.
Thank you all for your continued support of the club.
Erich Okonowski President, KGE
07.01 - Lore Changes
Hello everyone,
I have some mixed news. All lores are being condensed and managed. There will be a new list of lores posted for all players to have access to. If a player would like to create a new lore for the game, it will have to be submitted to the GM and added with their approval. I know with this change there is going to be A LOT of questions. The staff and myself will be able to help you all navigate your questions.
Some questions you may have: What happens if my culture lore is removed from the master list? This will be handled in one of three ways: players may submit a request to reallocate those points into a different approved lore, take the xp refund for the skill being removed, or it may get placed into a matching lore. Example: you have culture lore Ancient fairy, it may get moved to culture lore Fae.
What happens if we don’t want the new standard lore? This is the chance for you to change the lore into a different approved lore. We will discuss the change in lore with you and change your sheet.
Why are we condensing lores? The CBM staff is currently working on a new process that will help improve character sign outs. With this new process, we need to make the collection of lores more manageable for all GSOM staff.
What if I already have that condensed lore? Then you get the options to either refund the points or reallocate them to a new approved lore.
Will the change in lores affect subclasses? No, no lores will be taken away for the ties of subclasses. Those lore were picked specifically for those subclasses and have been approved from the GSOM already.
If you have any more questions please feel free to reach out to the CBM staff.
Thank you ,
CBM 1 - Melissa Jones
Concentration Clarification
Hello Kanar players,
Play Master staff would like to announce a point of clarification for what breaks concentration. Currently concentration reads: "Concentration spells require the sustained attention of the caster. At the time a Concentration spell is cast, the caster must extend one hand away from their body toward the spell effect they are maintaining. The spell ends if the caster lowers their hand, if they take damage to their AP or BP, if they perform any attack, begin casting another spell, or are no longer within 50 feet of the target."
Going forward "perform any attack" will be defined as taking an offensive action towards another character.
Offensive actions include, but are not limited to: swinging a standard attack, swinging a weapon and activating a martial skill, doing a surprise attack, and any other action that negatively effects another character; such as activating a toxin, applying a harmful alchemy on another character, or activating an item material effect that effects another character. I.e activating Mithril's "Turn Undead 1" ability while holding concentration on a "Wall of Fire" will end the "Wall of fire" spell because it has a negative effect on Undead characters as opposed to activating an Item made of deep sea scales will not break your concentration because it does not effect another character. This clarification also effects spells that are "Duration: Song" because "Duration: Song" requires concentration restrictions to be met.
As always, given that you maintain all other prerequisites to concentration, defending against attacks is not considered attacking and does not break concentration.
Thank you -Play Master 1st

Hello, The GM team would like to kindly remind all players that the only approved form of contact with GM staff is through the official GM@kanar.club email. This also includes any plot or story questions.

06.05 - Agelong
Hello everyone! I hope you have been enjoying your weeklong event. We will be running Agelong this Saturday at 8 PM. I would like to do a pre-meeting at 7:30 to just go over some stuff. I have planned to run until 2:30 AM, but if we’re about done, I have no issue calling it early. If you want to participate but don’t like combat, I have things that you can do as well. I’m looking forward to people having a fun night and making even more fun and enjoyable stories!
I just want to thank everyone that has been helping with our weeklong event. This does not happen without you guys. It always puts a smile on my face seeing everyone doing their best to make the experience of the game a good one. If anyone out there wishes to help with any of the various staff positions out, please feel free to reach out and ask what you can do to help.
New player update! Peer review time!
Hello my fellow LARPers! We have been working toward a new player intake process for a while now. Trying somethings out, and digging into what we have on the website and seeing where we can improve. I have spoken to many of you on what you want to see, or what would have helped you. Now I am asking for a little help from you! In the link below you will find two folders. These both contain information that will direct how we interact with new club members.
One folder New Player Info, is destined for the website. Cleaning up what we have. Breaking it into smaller spaces and making more easy to consume.
One folder is what we are proposing as the new mentor system and a step b y step on how we would interact with new players. From first contact to them being comfortable enough to leave the program. If you have time and wouldn't mind giving this information a good look over. I have left the comments area on, so anyone with the link can give feedback along the way. Feedback in a gift and I hope to receive lots.
You will find the bulk of the Website information in the New Player Guide. But how we link this will be changing on the website. If you have questions please reach out!!!

05.12 - Message from the GSOM
Hello everyone,
The GSOM and BOD has received a number of written concerns about the new craft packet, its changes and its adherence to the SOPs and other relevant governing documents.
In this light the GSOM has created a subcommittee to audit the new craft packet to ensure compliance with all SOPs and policies.
The new crafting system, with the exemption of the new material list, will not come into effect until the review committee has reached its conclusion and the GSOM/ BOD approval has been granted.

05.10 - Recipe book clarification
Recipe books can be used with 1 trade if they are to align with what is outlined in the rulebook. It doesn't specifically say because all the new recipes didn't exist but it is implied that 1 recipe book would be for each craft i.e. alchemy, toxins, etc.

2026 Crafting system Recipe Update
Hi everybody!
We’ve gotten a lot of questions after the release of the recipes, so we’re just here to give a couple quick updates:
Recipes will go into effect at the May Weeklong event. You won’t need recipes or a recipe book for the April event, but you will at May's event.
On field crafting time updates also take effect at the May event. Make sure you review the new on field crafting times, as they are much different than the current crafting times.
For the start of the system, a crafter can have all recipes up to their level of craft, so if you’re a master in a craft you can have every recipe in that craft.
--
We also have just a few updated recipes for you. Most just had their description or mechanics changed for clarity. A couple have been removed based on feedback. Here is a list below:
The Oricalchum recipes in Alchemy Ritual and Spellbooks in Bookbinding Dwarven Blood Wine in Brewing Basic Poultice in Herbalism Bandage of Nightcall in Herbalism Bag of Holding in Leatherworking Climbing Equipment in Siegesmithing Unicorn Silk Armor in Tailoring Container Trap in Traps Changed Projectile Trap Name to Piercing Trap in Traps Changed Multi Projectile Trap Name to Multi Piercing Trap in Traps Hot Tar Trap in Traps
Removed Faction Clothing in Tailoring and Disguises Removed Poisoned Spike Pit Trap in Traps Removed Poison Projectile Trap in Traps
We hope this helps! If you have any more questions please don’t forget to email us at gm@kanar.club

2026 Crafting system Recipe Release
Hey everyone! We're back with another quick announcement about the new crafting system.
We've finished the recipes list! It took a little while so we thank you for your patience. The master recipe list is LONG, but we've divided it into each craft to make it easier to digest. We hope seeing the recipes helps clarify the rest of the crafting packet, but if you still have questions Brian has set up an area in the New Player Discord so questions can be answered as quickly as possible.
We also made a small adjustment to the crafting packet. Previously it stated weapons could only be made out of certain materials. While this is still the case, we added a clarification that weapons can be made of basic and standard animal products, meaning regular bone weapons are included in that clarification.
Hope this helps! We can't wait to see you all at our next game!

Garb Swap
** Update: Due to inclement weather, the garb swap will be starting on Saturday rather than Friday.**
Hello all! There will be a Garb Swap Event happening during the April Event, from 4/24-4/26. Please fill out this form if you wish to take part in the event, so we can gauge how much space we'll need, as well if you'll want any untaken garb back after: https://forms.gle/AJFc2FBarpkZPinx5
Club members are welcome to bring any gently used and washed garb they wish to let go. That garb will be placed out for others to peruse and take home for free. You can bring anything from tunics and pants to boots and belts. Everyone is welcome to participate, and you don't need to bring garb to take garb. This is a great opportunity for new larpers to fill out their kits or for veteran larpers try new styles without breaking the bank. Any garb left after the event will be looked over by the QM team or donated!
The tl;dr:
- Drop off your garb at one of the merchant stalls by the Econ shed for the swap!
- Wash or clean all garb before giving.
- You do NOT have to bring garb to take garb!
- If you want your untaken garb back after the event, please label them with your out-of-character name. Safety pins and scrap fabric are great for this!
- Please remember that this is an event to support the community, and that these items should be given freely without expectation of compensation.
- Please don't bring furniture, I'm just one guy.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the organizer Holly Eatinger at eatingerholly2014@gmail.com, or the BOD at BOD@kanar.club. Hope to see you there!

04.12 Spell slot learning clarification
It has been brought to the GSOM's attention not everyone is aware of the following.
Players may self-teach and learn spells slots up to the maximum number of spells slots that they can know for a spell slot level, given they meet all other conditions, with each level of the spell only counting as one lesson I.e. you know 14 fire-air 1 spell slots, you're level 19, thus you are able to learn an additional 5 lvl 1 spell slots at the cost of 1 lesson
We intend to codify this in the next rulebook so it is clear for everyone this accepted long running practice.
Respectfully
The PM staff
04.01 Wall Rules Clarification
I hope everyone had a great first event back. During the event, it came to my attention that the "Wall" Spells needed clarification.
Going forward when Wall spells, which are thrown with a tennis ball-like spell packet, must hit the post at either end of the Wall that they are trying to create as well as meet all other given conditions (i.e. the tape must be set up first).
However, a player may instead choose to throw a bean bag or seed bag (As per the Mass Lesser Ensnare Spell), rather than a tennis ball and as long as it lands within 2 feet of the target area (from post to post) the spell is considered successful given all other conditions are also met.
Players may still cast Wall spells through touching the post per normal.
Thank you Playmaster 1st
2026 Crafting system update
Hi again everyone!
We have gotten more and more great feedback from members of the club, and have decided to roll the changes out over a few months to give everybody time to learn the system.
During the March event, the New materials list is in effect, as well as the requirement that every weapon/shield, even basic one made from generic materials, require tags. The only weapon that will not require tags will be rocks. Please visit the bank, as they will be giving out 2 generic weapon tags to everyone. if you choose to purchase basic weapon tags you must specify what weapon you are purchasing. The new on field and off field crafting portions requiring recipes will NOT be turned on, and the old craft packets should be used for on field and in between event crafting for the march event.
During the April event, we will be turning the in-between events craft component of the new craft packets on, meaning you will need to have a recipe book with recipes to craft in between events after April, please visit the bank as they will be giving out 1 recipe book tag to everyone. The new on field portion requiring recipes and crafters tools will NOT be turned on, and the old craft packets should be used for on field crafting for the April event.
During the 10 day Summer event, we will be turning the onfield craft component of the new craft packets on, meaning you will need to have a recipe book with recipes and crafters tools to craft on field.
We got some questions on how recipes are going to work, so here is a little more info on them. Whenever you gain a level in a craft or trade skill, you can learn any 1 recipe from the to be released recipe list for said skill that you meet the requirements to craft. Otherwise, recipes can be learned by copying from other books, researching between events, or breaking tags down. For the April event, you may start with a number of recipes in your book equal to your skill level in the appropriate craft or trade skill.
Thank you for your patience and support!

03.18 - Craft Rework Update
Hey members, we looked at your questions and feedback for the crafting packet, and we're going to make a few changes:
Item Creation Skills (Alchemy, Potions, Scrolls, Toxins, Traps) will now be on field craftable up to level 5 if you're a normal crafter. If you have the Artificer or Artisan Subclass, you can on field craft using Item creation skills up to level 8 per the subclass text. Item Creation Skills level 9 wont be craftable on field
Change: We added #13 in the On Field Crafting section that reads "You may only craft levels 1-5 on the field, unless noted otherwise."
We added a blurb in the Craft Skills section that says "Items created between events require presentation of the relevant recipe at time of pick up from the Econ staff." That means if you created an item you need to have a recipe associated with it. Don't worry about items you crafted over winter, you wont need to present recipes for those. You can use a recipe book with any number of different crafts. Recipe books are a lot like spellbooks, but they hold recipes instead of spells. They will still need to have all of the relevant information in them just like a spellbook would.
Change: Every craft will require a recipe book
We've also updated the armor smithing chart and the armor smithing text to coincide. "The Crafter can repair damaged but not broken armor on field without cost at a rate of 1AP/5 min, with that AP increasing by 1 for every level that the Armor Smith has to a max of 5AP/5 min."
Here's our updated release with the changes. Thank you for your patience and support!

03.18 - Econ announcement
Hello everyone,
Econ 1 James Awbrey has decided to step down from the position. We on the gm team would like to extend our gratitude for the long volunteer hours he has given to the club.
As part of this staff change, we are excited to welcome Jason Cooley as the new Econ 1! We are looking forward to working with him in the coming months and seeing what he can bring to the position!
We are looking forward to a running start to the 2026 season, can’t wait to see you at the march event!
Thanks, The GM staff
03.14 - Fire Boxes
Hello all!
A big thank you to those who came out and assisted with the Safety Work Day. You are greatly appreciated! We were able to accomplish some pre-game tasks, that will ultimately make the first event run more smoothly.
Site Caretakers, I have inspected all fireboxes. Once I have the approved fire pit list from BLD, I will send emails to those caretakers whose fireboxes need upkeep.
As a reminder, Fire boxes are NOT garbage bins. There are only 3 things permitted in the fireboxes, so that they are easily accessible in case of an emergency
- First aide kit
- Fire blanket
- Fire extinguisher
Thank you all for your understanding and cooperation in this matter. Looking forward to seeing you all at the first event.

New Crafting system for 2026
Hey members, it's the moment you've all been waiting for! The new crafting packet is officially done! We hope you're excited. We want to thank you all for your patience as we worked diligently to make this update happen. We worked hard to make this packet comprehensive, easy to understand, and easy to utilize. Recipes will be released separately from the packet as its own documents, so watch for that coming very soon.
The play test for the new crafting rules will begin this March event and continue through at least the May event to work out any bugs. If you have questions or comments, for now please email them to gm@kanar.club or econ@kanar.club and please email them as we are likely to forget if you tell us at the events.
Some key updates you need to be aware of: •ALL weapons will be tagged now, if you have a phys rep for a weapon you will be able to receive a tag for it by going to econ and getting a temp tags, then submitting a request to econ via the item creation form. You MUST have a phys rep to receive your weapon tags. •Profession synergy skills have been added. If you are a new player and someone asks "what do you do?" you now have an answer for them if you have at least 1 skill in a profession you like •Creation time on field had been reduced, and you now have 3 crafting actions per event •Gathering has been added, you can now gather materials between events •As you might have seen at feast, some materials now have special effects. All the effects are listed in the new packet
I'd like to give a huge shout out to everyone who worked on this packet, who poured hours and hours of hard work into making something we are truly proud of. We could not have done it without your teamwork and dedication. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all!
