Proposals to update multiple SOP documents were approved. Specifically:
K1G-001 K1 SOP 23.02 to bring the CBM title in line with the other positions of the same level. Additionally a grammar correction, and rephrasing of sections to be gender neutral.

1.1-KGE-RO 23.10 to change verbiage to be gender neutral and fix an old acronym to be updated.

1.3-KGE-SPS 23.01 to change verbiage and update an old acronym.

K1G-002 POL 001-007 23.02 to change verbiage and update an old acronym.

K1-POL-002 now reads:
The use of tags in Kanar is vital to the game play. It is the intent of this policy to set up a process that shall enforce the use of tags without slowing the pace of the game as a whole. Therefore, the Kanar Game Staff Operations Managers (KGSOM) have set forth this statement of policy to be followed by all members of K1.
In order for your Player Character (PC) to use or carry any item requiring a tag, you must have both a physical representation (Phys Rep) and an item tag. Crafting Materials are an exemption to this policy; they do not require you to have a physical representation. However, crafting tags may be stolen.
If the Phys Rep is lost or taken, and there is no item tag to be found on you, then the item is still considered lost / stolen by a thief.
Items that a PC or Non-Player Character (NPC) could not physically carry require the use of a "Deed of Ownership". A deed of ownership is a piece of parchment with the word deed written on it, what it is a deed of, and the tag number it is associated with. Deeds of Ownership are stealable.
Armor worn by a PC cannot be stolen unless physically removed. You may only have armor tags on you that you have physical representations for.
Temporary Tags that are issued during the current event are stealable without a physical representation present. If a tag is lost and there is no Phys Rep, the item is lost forever. If a PC still has their Phys Rep, but the tag is lost, they may get the tag back.

K1G-001 K1 SOP 23.02 that allows the splitting of the rulebook into multiple documents. The Kanar Rulebook will be divided into the following book types: The Core Rulebook and Supplementary Rulebook Codex(s).
The Core Rulebook: This document will contain the core mechanical aspects of the game, which are deemed to be integral to the operation of the standard aspects of the game. Supplementary Rulebook Codex(s): These documents will supplement the Core Rulebook; they are intended to allow for more in-depth game play without bloating the Core Rulebook and its core mechanics.

Subclasses approved.

3.24 - Seasonal Reminder of the Personal Safety Policy

Hello, players! Safety 1st Kiri here. I've had a few questions this event about what to do if roleplay on field gets a little intense and causes some worry about whether the feelings are in character or out. Below is KGE policy #18, which covers personal safety while at our games. Please make sure you're especially familiar with the process for how to check on other players during gameplay. It's a long post, but important to know. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read through!

Personal Safety

Personal safety is important to Kanar Gaming Enterprises, Inc. We hope members make informed decisions before playing the game. Therefore, the KGE Board of Directors has set forth this statement of policy to be followed by all members of KGE.

  1. KGE sponsored games, like K1, use padded facsimiles of melee and ranged weapons in simulated combat.

  2. KGE recommends that every player wear an athletic supporter, padded gloves, and safety goggles.

  3. Pregnant members may attend KGE events as non-combatants.

  4. During any sponsored game a participating member may break character, putting their hand over their head and speaking out-of-game, to let other participants know that they are not feeling real-world safe in the situation. If needed, a hold may be called. Participants should assess their gameplay, consider whether they are roleplaying in line with the code of conduct, and either find a way to safely re-engage in gameplay or disengage from the situation entirely. Any participant can choose to walk away from any situation they feel is unsafe.

This guideline should be followed when handling unsafe situations:

If a participant communicates that they feel unsafe and is able to communicate what is making them feel unsafe, the participants involved are encouraged to have a short discussion on how the situation can be changed to resolve the issue.

  • If a solution can be reached, players are encouraged to re-engage in gameplay with changes made.
  • If a solution can not be reached or the changes do not remedy the situation, the unsafe participant is encouraged to disengage from the situation and seek out a member of staff as needed.

If a participant communicates that they feel unsafe and is not able to communicate what is making them unsafe:

  • Without a communicated way to resolve the issue, it is highly recommended that the participant disengage from the situation and seek out a member of staff as needed.

If a participant is concerned that another participant is feeling unsafe or unwell, they are encouraged to put their hand on their head and briefly check in. We recommend the following methods:

  • Verbally, by quietly asking if everything is 'mundanely okay' and getting a verbal response from the other participants. This should not interrupt surrounding gameplay unless a hold needs to be called.
  • Nonverbally, by giving a thumbs up and receiving either a thumbs up for safe or thumbs down for unsafe.

If all participants are safe, gameplay should continue. If they are not, participants should follow the resolution guide listed above.

If a participant is leaving the event due to not feeling real-world safe, a member of the Safety Response Team must be informed of the issue before the participant leaves the property so an investigation can begin. The Safety Response Team member must report the situation to Safety 1st for further investigation. If needed, see the guideline for extreme situations below.

In case of extremely unsafe situations, the following procedure should be followed:

  • A hold should be called by the participant that does not feel safe.
  • A member of the Safety Response Team must escort the unsafe-feeling participant to an out-of-game area.
  • If a member of the Safety Response Team is not present, the participant who called the hold should designate someone to escort them to an out-of-game area and stay with them until a member of the Response Team arrives.
  • The Response Team member or designated escort and unsafe participant will walk off the field of play with a hand over their head. The escorting party will designate someone to call off the hold for those not involved with the safety issue once they are fully clear of the situation.
  • A Response Team member will remain with the participant at all times until the situation is resolved or the participant leaves KGE property.
  • A member of Play Master, Game Master, and Safety Staffs are required to address the situation with the other participants involved, investigate whether rules or policies have been broken in the situation, and deliver warnings and removal from gameplay as warranted. This is to be done in an out-of-game area which may not be the same area where the unsafe-feeling participant and Response Team member have gone.
  • If the participants involved are removed from the event, a member of the Board of Directors must be contacted to escort the removed participants from the field of play as per procedure.
  • If the situation is investigated by a member of staff who is not the head of their department, their department head must be notified of updates as soon as possible.
  • Disciplinary actions must be documented with the Safety department.
  • If the investigation determines that action beyond the scope of the GM, PM, and Safety staff is required, a Judicial Review Board Request should be submitted by the unsafe-feeling participant. The Board of Directors will review the investigation findings and actions suggested by the investigating party and determine whether removal from a staff position, suspension, or removal from KGE is warranted via the Judicial Review process.

Thank you for reading to the end! If you have any questions about any of this, please talk to me on field or send an email to safety@kanar.club.

-Kiri, Safety 1st

3.22 - Start of 3/22/2024 Game pushed back to 7:00 pm

Good afternoon, KGE Membership:

While we are all excited to start the 2024 Kanar Season, The Game Master Staff, Safety Staff, and Building & Land Department have all met and agreed to push the start of today’s event back to 7:00 pm due to inclement weather and poor road conditions. Players can still access the property before 7:00 pm, but “Game On” will not start until that time. This is in hopes that members and staff have extra time to travel to the property safely.

We do not make this decision lightly as we respect our membership's commitment to the game and the playtime you dedicate to your characters.

With thanks,
The Game Master Staff, Safety Staff, and Building & Land Department

May Announcements (5.22)

5.22 - Additional Econ Staff Needed

Hello players! Your current Econ here. I am posting this announcement to catch the interest of those players who would like an opportunity to give back to the game on an economic level. I am currently looking for an Econ 2nd and field staff to assist with the bank and crafting tags. If you enjoy spending time helping out other players, have decent math skills and want to learn more about our economic system, you could be a fit. Please send all inquiries to Econ at Econ@kanar.club Thank you for your interest.

5.19 - Safety Request: Lamplighters

Good morning, everyone! Friendly neighborhood Safety 1st Kiri here with a special request for the May event.

The torches on field need to be filled for tonight and tomorrow, and we may need more kerosene. I'm offering 5 Safety XP to volunteers for each night this event to take the kerosene container in a cart around the trails to fill all torches with pink tape on them, and 1XP/$1 for a filled kerosene jug (please keep receipts). This task is best done in pairs, and this XP does go on top of the normal 30XP event cap!

As of right now, we have had zero Lamplighters Guild volunteers for this season. If you would like to become a regular Lamplighter volunteer, there is an in-game aspect to joining the Lamplighters Guild in character, which includes coin among other things.

To remind players, you are encouraged and welcome to light torches you come across once it starts to get dark on the trails.

For questions please email safety@kanar.club or see me at the GM shed at the event. I'm not on Facebook, so I won't see anything posted here.

See you all out there! Kiri, Safety 1/GM 2

5.19 - GM Event Hype

EVENT HYPE: The Bugbear flip module will take place on Saturday starting at 1:00. This flip mod will take place on the NPC Land section of the property so if you do not want to participate the town of Illveresh will be open to you.

A few reminders - players are responsible for providing their own water. This is going to be a combat heavy mod, with things for non-coms to do, so you are going to want to hydrate before, during, and after.

We have started to see poison ivy pop up. Please be mindful of where you fall down to die. We want everyone to have a good time and a bad case of poison ivy post event will be a downer for everyone. If you do not know what poison ivy looks like, please find me before the mod so I can point it out to you.

There will be a number of staff in pink sashes to make an encounter of this size work. These staff will not only be helping with logistics for the module but will also be watching for safe fighting. If a staff member comments on your fighting, please follow their lead. If you disagree with their call, then please let the staff know after the module has concluded. Staff will not tolerate arguments from players during the module. We will likely have over 100 players on this mod and maybe a dozen staff. It's not that we don't want to hear your concerns, we just need to have our eyes on the situation at hand.

Loot will be handed out after the module. There will be no need to loot every NPC. This is to make sure that our NPCs can get off the ground and to a safe spot as soon as possible. Please stay after the module has concluded to get your loot.

Please remember that "Hold" is our word for everyone to stop and check for a safety event. We have recently encountered some scenarios of people using the word "hold" to indicate that a fighting line should be stationary. Any use of the word "hold" will be considered a safety call and combat will be stopped. Also, "Healer" is the call that should be used for magic healing folks. "Medic" is a term for OOG safety members.

All PCs will be split into two groups. An NPC will be sent to Illveresh on Friday night with more information on how PCs should split themselves and to answer any questions about the encounter IG. The Adventurer's Academy will still be taking place this month with the Academy teachers showing up to Illveresh around 11:00 am. We will not be able to wait around for players to get ready due to the full timeline we have planned for Saturday. If you are under 6th level and want to go on the Adventurer's Academy adventure, please be ready at 11:00 am to roll out.

Thats all for now! - Marcus S.

5.17 - From the Desk of CBM1st

Hello Everyone, We hope you are all looking forward to this coming event! We wanted to reach out and let you know about some changes that have been made to the Character Signout Form.

Recently it was decided that the number of days that a member attended an event was not relevant anymore for XP purposes unless they purchased a one day event pass. That being said, with the creation of the different ticket tiers and season pass tiers, it became more important to track attendance and xp awarded by the ticket and not the days a player attended.

Once this distinction was determined, we decided to change up the signout form to reflect the membership level or ticket tier purchased for any given event.

When you do your next signout, you will notice that there is no longer a question asking you how many days you attended and rather the ticket level or membership tier instead.

We hope that the changes will not only assist CBM but will also make your signout experience just a little bit easier. There are now 13 options to choose from.

The number of days is no longer being asked and instead the question is:

‘What tier of membership/ticket did you purchase? If you paid but were unable to attend, please choose your corresponding membership/ticket - Did Not Attend.’

We ask that you choose the option that most represents your ticket or membership/ticket/attendance level for that event or season.

For Example, if you attended the most recent Role Play Event, please pick that option when doing your signout for that event.

If you attended a regular event and you are a season pass holder, please choose the option for “Season Pass” and the tier of Season Pass you purchased for that season.

If you paid for the event or are a season pass holder and for whatever reason you were unable to attend, please choose the appropriate ticket level or season pass level and “Did Not Attend”.

With all of this being said, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email us at CBM@kanar.club. We will be more than happy to assist you.

See you all at the event, Your CBM Staff

5.9 - CBM

Hello everyone! Just your CBM crew here to let you know your character sheet updates for the April Live Event have been completed!

As always, if you find something of concern or issue or you didn't get an update, Please check the ""Staff Comments"" tab on your sheet for possible information, or you can reach out to us at cbm@kanar.club and I am sure we can work together to get it taken care of!

Just a friendly reminder, we ask that players refrain from sending emails with questions regarding updates to their sheets or any missing information or XP until after we have posted that all of the current event updates have been completed.

Often we do updates in waves and sometimes we are not done with your sheet even if it says your update is complete for that event.

That all being said, we thank you all for your understanding and patience.

See you at the next event! Your CBM Staff!

3.24 Safety Ruling

The following is a Safety field ruling in effect for March. Physical copies will be available to review on the bulletin boards, and a digital copy can be found at the link below. For any questions, please see me (Kiri, I'll usually be at the GM shed).

Safety Field Ruling: Guideline for Handling Unsafe Situations Ruling in effect March 24, 2023

This ruling was made with input from the Playmaster, Gamemaster, and Board of Directors

During an event a participating member may break character, putting their hand over their head and speaking out-of-game, to let other participants know that they are not feeling real-world safe in the situation. If needed, a hold may be called. Participants should assess their gameplay, consider whether they are roleplaying in line with the code of conduct, and either find a way to safely re-engage in gameplay or disengage from the situation entirely. Any participant can choose to walk away from any situation they feel is unsafe.

Please read the guidelines for the full ruling.

Kiri, Safety First

3.23 Game Master Update

The material component Alchemical Steel is being removed from the game. If you have any tags for this material or items created from it, please turn them in to the Econ staff or GM and you will be refunded the purchase price for said tags or given the option to trade them in for materials of equivalent value.

Thank you!

Jerimy H, GM 1st

October Announcements (10.13)

10.13 - Pre Event Hype

The falling leaves are bright and crisp as the world churns out another chilly autumn in the wake of the hot summer sun, and smiles abound as the harvest comes in more bountiful than expected. But beneath those smiles is the looming fear of what approaches. Smith's hurry to forge silver weapons and towns fortify their walls and graveyards in fear of what the season brings at its apex, when the darkness encroaches and the veil is thinnest. Despite being a yearly ritual, the anticipation haunts those preparing. These things are known, and planned for, but what of the unknown? What of the fires that seem to whisper to each other, refusing to burn brightly? What of the impending army of fey folk, sworn to vengeance? Will they join forces with the hordes, or will they wait to take down survivors when the dust from bones and bodies clear?

10.12 - Safety Updates for October 2022

Hello, everyone! Friendly neighborhood Safety 1st here with a few announcements.

Covid: Updates have been made to the Covid Guidelines. There are no new guidelines, and a few have been relaxed and clarified. Please remember that all members are encouraged to mask to their personal comfort levels and respect any requests for social distancing made my another member.

These changes will be in effect for the 2022 October event and, if everything goes well, will be in place for the rest of the 2022 season. If you have any questions or feedback, please email me at safety@kanar.club.

Cold Weather Larp: It's supposed to be chilly this weekend, so remember to bring your cold weather garb! Layers of clothes and multiple socks will help keep you warm. If you don't have period garb for the cold yet, try layering modern clothes like thermals underneath your normal garb. If you'd like more advice for surviving the colder months, reach out to more veteran players for their own tips and tricks!

Lighting: The main trails on the field of play and the trail leading to Tent City have torches placed for lighting. If it's dark on the trail and you come across a filled torch that hasn't been lit, please feel free to light it! If there are any spaces that need more lighting, please let a member of Safety staff know. If you'd like to volunteer to fill and light torches, please contact me by email or at the GM shed and get 5 Safety XP as a thanks!

Donations: We have a few things on our list, and new things are always being added! We're still on the hunt for solar lights that are bright enough to light the trails, but aren't obviously modern. Take a look and email me your receipts for XP awards!

10.10 - October Monthly Econ Update

Hello players,

It's that time already for the monthly update from Econ. We apologize for the late update, with the volume of tags turned in last event the Econ team has finally finished this month's submissions. We are requesting at this time that all players who are attending the October All Hallow's Event who HAVE NOT turned in their tags to please prepare for turn in. October 2022 is THE CUT OFF for current players to turn in, this excludes the groups that have already been made aware of their turn in time for the month of November. Please make arrangements to get your tags turned in. Please remember if you missed your month and you've attended an event after your designated turn in and you do not turn in your tags this season, they will be invalid and cannot be used next season.

Please take photos of your tags prior to turn in for your records. You may turn in your tags at anytime the Econ is on duty and may use your photos as proof of your tags during game time to speed up the process of tag turn in.

We would also like to remind the player base to please use the item creation form to submit their pink temporary tags with their sign outs at the end of the events.

Temporary tags do have an expiration date for submission written on them for the following month. We are encouraging players to please be mindful of that and submit them in a timely fashion. We do understand this is a new practice that will take some transition time which we will be accommodating for this season.

Here is the link to the item creation form found on the Kanar website. Please reach out to Econ at econ@kanar.club for further questions and inquiries.

We look forward to seeing you all in Ilveresh.

Kind Regards, The Econ Team

10.10 - From the Desk of CBM1st

Hello everyone! Just your CBM crew here to let you know your character sheet updates for both the September Live Event and the September Role Play Only Event have been completed!

We apologize for the longer than usual wait time in between updates, as we normally have them out before now, but we wanted to get all of the updates in before the big upcoming All Hallows event, so that everyone knew how much XP they had to spend on skills and learning!

This past two events tallied up to more than 156 signouts! We also added all of the Dept XP requests that had been approved at the moment. So, everyone should be all set there as well!

As always, if you find something of concern or issue or you didn't get an update, Please check the ""Staff Comments"" tab on your sheet for possible information, or you can reach out to us at cbm@kanar.club and I am sure we can work together to get it taken care of!

Hope to see you all at All Hallows!!

Thanks again, Your CBM Staff!

9.30 Ye Olde Shambly Guys Needed

Most of you know me, you know what I do on field.

9.29 All Hallows Costumed NPCs

The All Hallows event is coming up and the GM staff is looking for NPCs. In the spirit of Halloween, the All Hallows event is traditionally a costume-encouraged event for our NPCs so if you'd like to sign up and dress the part for an evening, please reach out to GM@kanar.club for more information. We're very flexible with NPC concepts so if you already have a costume or idea that fits in with a spooky encounter, we'll work with you and help you craft an NPC that fits in with the shenanigans. For all our elves that hunted Agelong this year, this is a great opportunity to return the favor for our dedicated orcs!

9.21 Out of Game Calls

The Playmaster staff would like to remind everyone of that mechanical calls are out of game. A few examples follow:

Example 1:

A Rogue walks up to someone pokes them with their dagger boffer and says "Silent Kill".

The words "Silent kill" are an out of game mechanical call. You can't react to hearing the call. If you watched the Rogue slip the blade into the target you can react to seeing that. You would not know they struck a perfect blow. If you used forensics on the corpse you may be able to establish they recieved a perfect blow.

Example 2:

A caster incants and says "Create Undead IV". You watch as the target of the spell gets up from the ground.

"Create Undead IV" is a mechanical call of the spell being used and is out of game so you can't react to it. The target getting up from the ground depending on what was created may appear to be a human or whatever race they are. If you have Undead lore then you would definatly be able to identify it as an Undead by saying "Undead Lore". Without Undead lore if the Undead isn't obviously not alive you may think you just watched someone get a "Life spell".

The above are just 2 examples of out of game mechanical calls. We are trying to make sure that we are all of the same understanding of the rules of our game.

Thank you for your time,

Playmaster Staff

9.19 Missing Weapons

I have noticed a shortage in the weapons supplied by QM for NPCs and players that are without physreps. Specifically, latex-styled weapons and a Calimacil bastard sword. (Damaged weapons have already been checked.) If you find that you have accidentally taken an item home that belongs to KGE, please return it at your earliest convenience. If this continues I will be forced to implement a checkout system where a personal item is given to QM as collateral until physreps are returned.

Thank you,

Daniel Miller QM1

If you were involved with eating the “Exotic Oranges” that were handed out last festival (August) please email the GM Staff at gm@kanar.club before coming to field this Friday. Thank you so much and we’ll see you soon.

9.14 - Module Update from the GM

Hey folks! The GM staff will be playtesting some new processes during the next event and we wanted to give you all a heads up. As modules have become increasingly popular, last event highlighted several issues with the process. Too many modules combined with a lot of waiting around for people as well as a lack of NPCs made things less than ideal, and at one point there were not enough PCs on the field for us to safely run NPC encounters. To help keep things on schedule, we are going to try something different.

For the September event, the GM staff will have time slots specifically assigned for modules. These time slots are tentatively 8pm Friday night, 1pm and 4pm on Saturday, and 12 noon on Sunday. If you have a module you are supposed to go on, it will be in one of these time slots. We have also placed three new clocks on the field to help players keep track of the time without having to resort to electronic devices. These new clocks are located on the front of the GM shed, the front of the safety shed in the center of town, and on the side of the Vanari camp in new town.

Additionally, we have installed a cast iron bell atop the sign post near the crossroads entering the field. GM staff will ring this bell ten times ten minutes prior to the start of a module. This will give players time to finish up any roleplaying they are currently engaged in and to report to the GM shed for their module. Players that are interested in NPCing can also report to the GM shed at this time. After ten minutes, the module will begin so if players are late, they will either miss the module or have to be worked into it through storytelling.

The GM staff will also be using a chalk board to keep track of module schedules and rosters, so players can come sign up for NPC spots or check module times in advance. It is our hope that this process will help the game run smoother as well as allowing GM staff more time to focus on field encounters.

As a final note, effective this last event and moving forward, all players that complete an event sign out will have an additional 5sp added to their player banks. This is to represent money that all players should be able to scrape up in a month doing odds and ends outside of crafting. Hopefully this little bit of silver can help players enjoy their events a little bit more.

If you have any questions regarding any of these changes, please reach out to us or come see us at the GM shed this weekend. PLEASE keep in mind that this is all a playtest and subject to change. We hope to see you all in Ilveresh this weekend!

Jerimy H., GM 1st

9.11 - Monthly Econ Update

Hello players,

It's that time already for the monthly update from Econ. The Econ team has finished this month's submissions for the tag turn in. We are requesting at this time that all players who are attending the September Event with LAST names starting with V, W, X, Y and Z, to please prepare for turn in. We are also requesting for players that missed their turn in month to turn in their tags at THIS event as well.

You may turn in your tags at anytime the Econ is on duty and may use your photos as proof of your tags during game time to speed up the process of turn in.

We are also requesting to players who have missed their tag turn in date to please turn them in at the next event attended excluding RPO events. We are trying to avoid a mass build up of tags turned in at the end of the season. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in the matter.

8.28 - Econ Reminder

Hello players,

Econ here just wanting to remind everyone that you are allowed to craft and do another action in your character sign outs. You don't need to submit another sign out, simply click on the item creation form below the character sign out.

You can craft for the Kingdom and make coin, or you can craft items with your crafting skills. The cut off for item submissions is tomorrow Monday August 29th at midnight. Don't forget to get them in as soon as you can.

A simple reminder to also put in your submissions for temp tag replacements through this form. There are expiration dates on them and though we are understanding, we are encouraging you all to be mindful of them. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to econ@kanar.club as our official means of communication.

Thank you, Your Econ Team

8.27 - Family Day Success!

I want to say thank you to all of the members that took the time, spent the money, and put in the effort needed to make Family Day possible. We wouldn't have been able to do it without every one of you. The children looked like they had a wonderful time fighting the bad guys, crafting their heraldry, and went nuts for the obstacle course I know my son did. All of you are truly amazing.

P.S. Don't forget to do your paperwork for your exp!

P.S.S. You guys are awesome!

8.28 - The Knights Conclave

A Call to the Chivalry of Novashan: Knights, Armigers, Squires, and Armsmen:

It is an honor to announce the annual Knights Conclave on October the 1st, 1022 at One O'Clock to Six O'Clock in the evening, in the town of Ilveresh in the County of Bellanmo.

The Knights Conclave will be open to the public of Ilveresh for the duration of the discussion, followed by a small meal for the chivalry and guests. If you wish to donate time or monetary resources, please contact Squire Korra, Squire Adawulf, or Squire Bell. We look forward to your attendance.

8.26 - Autumn Harvest Festival

Good Evening Ilveresh,

As Autumn falls upon us, Seneschal Rima SIlverleaf of Brisbane has decided to celebrate the changing of the seasons with a Harvest Festival on the saturday of the September moon. The fete will begin in the midday and allow for snacking, music and games to extend through the evening, focusing in the town center.

One of these prestigious seasonal games come from a long tradition of the Seneschal’s heritage, which will be a ‘hunt’ in which we will be looking for volunteers to be the ‘hunted’ as a celebrational event. There will be no life credits taken or life spells needed; so no one need to worry about volunteering. Prizes will be given at the end of the hunt to those who volunteer. Please just give us your name and we will happily add it to the list.

If you enjoy baking or cooking, anything seasonal will be welcome and if we can get a variety of baked goods, we can have a baking contest. Please see the feast food thread in the kanar fb group to offer help and additions.

Anyone NPCing will also have special games to play and prizes to win.

-Jenna F. (TM)

8.26 - GM: Module Logistics Help

The GM staff is working hard to improve the logistics surrounding modules, and we need your help! Last event saw several modules running throughout Friday and Saturday, and at several points throughout the event we had more people on modules than we had on the field. This is not ideal, as the goal is to bring more things to the field for general enjoyment.

Many of the factors contributing to the module bottlenecks were timing and NPC availability. It is very difficult to start a module on time when we have stragglers running late, and it can be hard to retain NPCs for modules when people are standing around for a half hour or more waiting for it to start. So, to combat this issue, we have need of a few player donations for items on this wish list.

First off, the GM shed needs some additional items to maximize staff efficiency. Lights, lanterns, and green tape are needed.

Second, we have received a few complaints about cell phones being visible during the event. Often times, this is likely due to people checking the time. We have a nice outdoor clock on the list, and we could use a couple of them to put around the field and at the GM shed. This should help reduce the need for mundane cell phone use as well as help player keep to module schedules.

Third, there’s a cast iron bell on the list. It’s a little expensive, but the GM staff plans to use it to signal to players when a module is about to begin. With the combination of clocks displayed on the field and a bell ringing ten minutes before a module, we are hoping to improve the flow of modules and reduce the impact they have on the field when they occur.

For players that might not be aware, Kanar has a donation policy that allows a player to donate items to staff and get award XP, up to 100 per year at a rate of 1xp per $2. For these items, the GM staff is offering a 1xp per dollar rate if we receive them before the September event. For the bell we will offer 100 xp and 100 silver. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at GM@kanar.club.

8.17 - Safety Wishlist Updated

Hello, all! Friendly neighborhood Safety 1st Kiri here with a lighting update!

We ran into a few issues last month with the lighting situation, and we're working on a few short and long term fixes:

For the short term, we need to replace a number of torch canisters which began leaking last event and have a reserve for any which may start failing this season. We're offering 1xp per $1, including shipping if you send it through our Amazon wishlist. Please bring your receipt to the event or email it to safety@kanar.club.

For the long term, we're looking into solar lighting options for town and the trails. Not only will this prevent issues with kerosene getting on anyone's garb, but it also tackles the issue of having open flame lighting at hair and clothing level and torches being knocked over or backed into during combat. We've got a few torches to test for brightness before we choose one type, tall shepherd's hooks to hang them from, and a few other items we need. We're offering 1xp per $2, including shipping.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please email me at safety@kanar.club. See you all out there!

June Announcements (6.14)

June Event Hype!

As the smoke clears from Fenrest, many people ask what’s next? What has come of the Mer and their invasion? What about their allies? Will this be the end of them or will they regroup and be seen where we least expect them?

And the refugees continue to pour in. Troubles with overpopulation begins to have many asking when is enough enough? More and more unrest begins to be seen in every city. That not including the concern of enough food to feed everyone. And why are there now nobles coming up from the South and checking in? What are their intentions?

And as the spring turns into the summer a tradition familiar to many comes around once again: Agelong. There are many stories of how Agelong has come to be from some saying it was just an old elf wanting to hunt on this night to a blood feud spanning generations. We will see what this seasonal feud brings upon the land.

Find out all this and more during the next event, June 17-26 at 10418 Plank Rd, Milan, MI 48160.

6.14 COVID Policy Update

Due to rising Covid numbers in Monroe and Washtenaw counties and reports of positive Covid tests from multiple players following our last two events, we will be adding a few Covid precautions and requirements to the June event.

We are requiring all players attending to either submit proof of a negative Covid test taken within 24 hours of the event start date (form will open at 5pm Thursday, June 16th) OR wear a mask for the duration of the event. At home covid tests are accepted.

The CDC has advised that those who previously had Covid may have a positive test for up to 90 days after the last date of symptoms. If you recently had Covid and are outside the CDC’s five days from the last day of symptoms but still have a positive test, there will be a spot on the form where you can indicate this, submit proof of the date of your positive Covid test, and explain the situation. We ask that those who submit proof of a negative test mask to their personal safety preferences.

Cabin owners are encouraged to enforce masking and occupancy limitations to their comfort.(cabins, tents, etc)

Hand washing stations will also be set up again. Please make sure we all stay healthy and wash your hands. As always if you feel sick or show any symptoms of covid please stay home and recover.

Please note that we will have a zero tolerance policy for breaking these rules and restrictions. If you have not submitted a negative test or verified that you are outside of the CDC’s 5-day symptom-free quarantine and are found without a mask, you will be escorted from the field of play for the duration of the event.

Free COVID Testing Options: Rite Aid Walgreens CVS

Questions can be sent to safety@kanar.club or BOD@kanar.club

6.12 Econ Update

It's that time already for the monthly update from Econ. The Econ team has finished this month's submissions for the tag turn in. We are not seeing as many players turning in tags as we had projected. We are requesting at this time that all players who are attending the June 10-day with LAST names starting with H, I, J, K and L, to please prepare for turn in.

Please take photos of your tags prior to turn in for your records.

Here is the link to the item creation form. Please reach out to Econ at econ@kanar.club for further questions and inquiries.

We look forward to seeing you all in Ilveresh.

6.12 Weeklong Skills Limit

I hope you are all doing well and getting excited for the upcoming weeklong event that is just around the corner!

I am writing to let the membership know that we have heard your voices and after considerations, we have decided to change the limit on the number of skills that can be learned/taught for this upcoming event.

Being that the weeklong event is two events with the week in the middle, it just makes sense that you should be able to learn/teach more skills. That being said, the limit will be changed from 4 skills to 8 skills and a single signout at the end event!

We agree with the membership that this change will create more roleplay situations and give more opportunities for players to create some of their own fun during the long event! So everyone get ready and bring your "A" game!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to send us an email at cbm@kanar.club

See you at the event!

6.3 Safety Mid-Season Policy Reminders and Hand Signal Notes

Hello, everyone! It's your friendly neighborhood Safety 1st here with a few quick midseason policy reminders and notes!

Code of Conduct

Please review the Fire Pit and Code of Conduct policies either in the pdfs attached below or as policies 3 and 19 in the KGE policy document.

In Case of Emergency

I will not be at the RPO event, but I live nearby and am available for emergencies throughout the weekend. For true emergencies, call 911 first. I've attached the emergency contact list and I'll have my phone on me at all times.

If you would like to volunteer to be a part of the Sober Staff (responsibilities are responding to situations in the moment and getting either a member of Safety staff or the Board to respond as needed, and making sure the torches are lit along the main trails), please email me at safety@kanar.club.

Hand Signals

With all of the new faces, I would also like to talk a little about some of the unwritten out-of-character hand signals you may come across on the field of play:

The most common signal you'll see is putting your hand over your head to let other players know that you're speaking or moving out of character. This is usually used for NPCs and staff moving as 'wind' across the field or a quick hand on the head to ask for clarification about a skill or spell effect, but it also serve two safety functions. If you are suddenly feeling ill or need to speak to safety staff for any reason, please put your hand on your head and tell someone to get a safety marshal and we'll be to you as quickly as possible. You can also put your hand on your head to remove yourself from a situation or encounter you feel is personally unsafe. You are the best person to know your limits, please larp responsibly.

You may also see some players using a thumbs up/thumbs down signal when roleplay gets particularly intense. This is a system used in many larp communities to check in with another player to see if they're okay, physically, mentally, or emotionally, and we're seeing it more widely used at Kanar. If someone gets your attention and gives you a thumbs up, give them a thumbs down if you need to leave a situation for real-world reasons or a thumbs up if you're just roleplaying really well and the moment is good to continue. You can also put your hand on your head to check in with others during slower moments or catch them in the parking lot afterward.

If you have questions about anything in the post or anything safety related, please email me at safety@kanar.club. I can't believe we're already this far into the season, it's been a pretty great one so far! See you all out there!

6.3 Playmaster Arrow Inspection Change

The playmaster staff would like to reach out and give you as much notice as possible of the following. Due to a big Flux in failing arrows during combat a stricter approval process on arrows is going to be used. Arrow heads will not be approved with heads that can fit the eye socket. Shafts will be inspected much closer for any signs of damage and warpage. Heads will be pulled on to see if they will come apart. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes you on behalf of the Play Master staff.

Also I would like to remind everyone of the 4 on 1 rule. " No more than 4 people may attack one person at a time". We have had several situations this season and would like to bring everyones awareness back to the rule.

Thank you all for your support and understanding as we strive together to make our club safe and fun for all.

5.31 - How to Fill Out Your RPOE Signout

Role Play Only Event Signout Screenshot

The June Role Play Only Event (RPOE) is coming June 3-5 and we want to make sure everyone knows how to fill out their signout to get that sweet XP for attending (or having a Tier 2 season pass).

Signouts for RPOE are due on the Wednesday after the event (June 8 for this one) and use the usual signout form. Fill it out as you would for a standard event until you get to the screen shown here.

On this screen, set the "Event Date" response to "June" and set the "How many days of the event did you attend?" response to "Role Play Only Event." This will cause the form to skip over the skills and life credits questions as well as the between event action questions. Fill out the rest of the form and submit.

5.27 - Post-Event May Covid Notice

Good morning, everyone.

A player who attended the May event has reported to staff that they tested positive for Covid after the event. If you also attended the event, please be mindful of your health and any symptoms you may have, and get testing if you feel sick and suspect it may be Covid. Symptoms may take 2-14 days to occur after exposure to the virus. If you test positive, we ask that you consider reporting your results to safety staff so we can better evaluate our Covid precautions and determine if and when changes or additions need to occur.

Stay safe, everyone.

5.26 RP Event Announcement

Hear ye, hear ye!

Let it be known unto all that Ourselves, Baroness Karigan D’Morkishky D’Kalin, will celebrate Our elevation with a noble and festive coronation, to take place in Ilveresh on Saturday the 4th of June, 1022. All heroes of Ilveresh who wish to attend are welcome.

The festivities will include the following:

  • Yard Sale: 12p - 4p
  • Coronation: 2p
  • Fighters Tournaments: 3p - 5p
  • Dinner: 5p
  • Arts & Cooking Tournaments: 6p - 7p
  • Gambling Tournament: 7p - 9p

We request you provide your own feastware, and be sure to withdraw coin from the bank before arriving, in order to participate!

The tournament rules are as follows, and will take place in the following order:

Fighter’s Tournaments: 3p - 5p

Marshal: Sir Eldrid

  • All weapons must be given approval by Sir Eldrid to be used in the tournaments, and armor is not allowed (armor worn doesn’t get counted).
  • Participants can fight in up to 2 fighter’s tournaments. Please see Sir Eldrid prior to 3p to designate which tournaments you’d like to participate in.
  • Rounds will be best 2 out of 3, single elimination.
  • Honor during each fight is expected of all participants. The marshalls overseeing the tournaments have final say on if a strike/stab counts, and the field of honor will have a ‘soft boundary’ that participants must remain within.

King’s Rules for Polearm, Dual Swords, & Sword and Shield:

  • Hits/stabs to the torso/butt is a KO. Loss of both arms, both legs, or one arm and one leg is a KO.
  • A hit/stab to a limb renders the limb a loss. If you lose an arm, everything in that hand must be dropped.
  • If you lose a leg, you must take a knee and cannot knee-walk. The lost leg should be the one with the knee touching the ground so your opponent knows which is which.
  • A lost limb is still counted as being present (but should remain stationary against the side), so a second strike does not go through to the torso. An active block with a lost limb is a KO (swinging/lifting the arm to block, kicking the leg out, etc).
  • Headshots are not a legal striking zone. The first headshot will result in a warning, the second will result in the loss of the round, and the third will disqualify you from the rest of the tournament.

Archery Rules

  • King’s rules, except only a torso/butt shot counts as a KO, no matter how many lost limbs.
  • Arrows are reusable. Audience members can hand out-of-bounds arrows to the tournament marshals, who will toss them centrally between the two fighters. The soft boundary applies to the fighters.
  • If their arm is lost, participants can place their bows on the ground, instead of dropping them.
  • A participant may forfeit the round by placing a hand on their head.

Arts Tournament in Town Center / Anna’s Pavilion: 6p - 7p

Theme: Elegance.

Judges: Baroness Karigan, Lydell, & Kayleth Moon

Art Rules:

  • Ceramics, painting, garments, etc.
  • Art can be submitted anytime on Saturday until 6p. Your art can be picked up from Anna’s Pavilion in the Town Center anytime after 6:30p.
  • Art cannot have been submitted in any tournament previously, however there is no limit to how long ago the art was made.
  • Physical art must be given to Lydell or Kayleth with a note card that has the name of the artist and the name of the piece.
  • Please keep your art immersively appropriate.

Performance Rules:

  • Music, dance, songs, poetry, juggling, etc
  • The sign up sheet will be available in Anna’s Pavilion until 6p Saturday.
  • Performances to start at 6:15p, and must be kept under 2.5 minutes.
  • If you require background music, fairy musicians will be available, but you must either bring your own instruments or send the sheet music to Lydell via letter.
  • Please keep your performance immersively appropriate.

Cooking Tournament, Fruity Desserts: 6p - 7p

Theme: Fruity Desserts

Judges: Baroness Karigan, Kai, & Rhael

Cooking Rules:

  • Competitors must make the entry themselves, and it must follow the theme.
  • At minimum, the equivalent of 12 individual servings needs to be presented. For example, a single standard sized pie or a dozen cupcakes.
  • Entries must be submitted by 6:30p to Gilly Tealeaf, for judging. Do not show the judges your entry!
  • Coconut in any form is not allowed due to allergies.
  • Those wishing for an “edge” should avoid cherries. Some favored flavors are lemon, chocolate, peanut butter, caramel, mint, raspberry, blackberry, & sweet apple.
  • People’s Choice:
    • Competitors who wish to participate in the People’s Choice should make an additional 6-12 servings.
    • Any attendee can pay 3 silver to sample the competitors’ desserts and vote for their favorite.
    • The winner of the People’s Choice will receive the money collected.

Gambling Tournament: 7p - 9p

Marshal: Sir Tralik

Tournament Rules

  • Competitors will form teams of two. Once a pair is entered, partners cannot be changed.
  • Teams will play a round of Euchre in a round-robin style, so that each team plays every team once.
  • Standard Euchre rules apply, including dealing, cutting, calling trump, reneging, etc
  • Within each round, each player will deal twice.
  • At the end of each round, points will be scored and given to Sir Tralik.
  • At the end of the tournament, the team with the most points will win.

Euchre Special Rules

  • ‘Farmers' hands’ are not allowed
    • This is when a player shows they’re in possession of three 9’s and 10’s and exchanges it for the three unexposed cards in the kitty (under where trump is flipped).
  • ‘Screw the dealer’ is in effect
    • This is when a suit / trump is not called, the dealer must pick.
  • ‘Loner hands’ are allowed, but ‘partner’s best’ is not
    • A loner hand is when one partner plays against the other team alone, and their partner places their cards face down.
    • Partner’s best is when the loner takes whichever cards of their partner’s that they’d like.

5.25 Lost and Found Bin + Wishlist Updates

I found a lot of random items after the event sitting up at check-in, GM shed, and QM shed. I have started a Lost and Found bin for said items and future items. If you are missing anything, please send me a PM to see if it was recovered.

The QM Amazon wish list has been updated. I am prioritizing the Foam-Mo, plastidip, and 2lb Eva foam(not the pressed 4lb mats from the store.) Those items are needed for current projects.

QM1 Daniel Miller

5.24 Between Event Action Update

The GM staff has taken the opportunity to look at a very important aspect of the game, crafting. We want to promote players to gain crafting skills and to use those skills to develop items that can enhance our game. In doing so, we are changing some of the rules for sign outs.

As of this time the GM staff will be allowing you to Craft in addition to the other 5 things you can do (Research/Adventure/Govern/Travel/Nothing). This means that you do not need to utilize the Crafting section in the drop down of your sign out but will need to continue to use the item creation form. We hope that this will encourage those of you with the skills to make your items.

If you have already submitted your sign out to do crafting for the May event and want to resubmit your sign out to do something else, you may do so until the sign out period is done.

Thank you for your time. Any questions feel free to email us at GM@kanar.club

Winter Announcements (3.12)

3.12 - Updates to Covid-19 Guidelines

Hello, everyone! Friendly neighborhood Safety 1st here with a quick update to Kanar's Covid-19 event guidelines for the 2022 season.

The State of Michigan has determined that we are entering the recovery phase of the Covid-19 epidemic, which includes updates to masking requirements and guidelines. According to the CDC website, Monroe and Washtenaw counties are both currently considered medium-risk counties and are surrounded by low-risk counties. Following these updates, we are amending KGE's Covid-19 response to the following:

  • Proof of vaccination or negative Covid-19 test are still required to attend KGE events.
  • Masks are no longer required at any time, including for combat NPCs and unvaccinated players. All players are encouraged to mask to their comfort level.
  • Use of KGE's stock costumes are permitted. The use of KGE's shared stock makeup is still considered high-risk for accidental transmission and will not be permitted until Monroe is considered a low-risk county. Players are welcome to bring their own makeup to use for NPCs, but are not permitted to share makeup with other players at this time.
  • Players with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 are not permitted until five days after they are symptom-free and/or test negative for the virus.
  • KGE reserves the right to remove any player under serious suspicion of illness (e.g. excessive/regular fits of coughing, fever, vomiting, etc.).
  • KGE reserves the right to update these rulings as the State and CDC update their guidance and to reinstate masking requirements if the CDC upgrades Monroe to a high-risk county.

If you have any questions, please email me at safety@kanar.club. I hope to see you all this weekend!

Kiri, Safety 1st

3.7 - Payments Reminder

As the March event quickly approaches I wanted to remind everyone that our 2022 season started January 1st, which means the 2022 annual membership dues and 2022 annual registration forms (ARF) need to be paid and signed for the year in order to participate. Without both of these your membership is not considered in good standing / valid. If you're not sure if you have everything set up, feel free to email treasurer@kanar.club and I'm happy to confirm.

Friday March 18th is our first field event of the season. Tickets for the event (and season passes) have been available on the website for several months now. It is, of course, most helpful for check-in if you purchase your tickets several days prior to the event.

Please review our covid policy here

For new players, welcome! The above applies to you as well, but your first standard event is free. The Role Play events are not available to be your first event, so please carefully check the calendar so there isn't a mix up, and feel free to email staff with any questions. Check out this page for more info.

All of us on staff have been saying how excited we are to see everyone and kick off the year. We hope you had a relaxing winter and can't wait for the 18th!

Karigan KGE Treasurer

3.7 - BLD Workday Thank you

I want to send out a huge thank you to everyone who was able to come out to our first BLD workday of the season.

We were able to clear so much trash from the property and start the major project of clearing a lot for our new GSOM Game Operations Area.

Please do not forget to fill out this form so I can get you your well-earned XP

We will be posting more information about future BLD workdays soon.

Yours in volunteerism, Marcus S. BLD 1st

3.2 - Change to Bonus XP Policy

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone had a great winter break and all is well! Here we are, just weeks away from the opening event for the 2022 Kanar Gaming Season! Your CBM team is looking forward to seeing everyone and we can't wait to get out there get some RP on! I am sure it’s going to be a great season!

We have been working on a few new changes over the break, one of which is the “Between Event Bonus XP” policy. After listening to player feedback and crunching some numbers, it was determined that changes were needed.

We think these changes will benefit the club and create more incentive for members to get engaged and give more back to this beloved club. We ask that you please take a moment to look at the attached document to learn more about these changes. And as always, your CBM team is here to help with any questions or concerns.

Also, keep an eye out for the upcoming “Civic” point program that will be introduced later in the season to allow members to really shine for all the time they donate to the club each year.

Be sure to take a moment to look over your character sheet to make sure everything is as it should be and of course send us an email with any questions or issues at cbm@kanar.club. This way we can get you all taken care of prior to the event.

All of that aside, have a great rest of the week and we will see you all on-field!

Your CBM Team

3.2 - BLD Work Day: Season Opener Property Cleanup

Good morning members,

It looks like the weather this Saturday is going to be exceptionally nice for the time of year. This seems like a prime opportunity for the membership to get out and clean up their sites and KGE common areas before the 2022 season opener.

BLD Staff will be on site to direct volunteers if they do not have a personal site to work on or have extra time.

Please post in the comments if you plan to be out. If enough people show interest the BLD 1st will splurge for some hamburgers and hotdogs for everyone for lunch.

Please bring your own water / beverages and any snacks you might need to work through the day. If you own personal work gloves we ask that you bring those as well.

Yours in volunteerism,

Marcus Schwimmer, BLD 1st

3.1 - LARP Items Yard Sale

Hear ye, hear ye!

Springtime brings the return to Festivals in Ilveresh. Let us shed our old attire and breathe life into something new to us!

Bring your federals and negotiation skills on Saturday 3/19/2022. 12pm – 4pm on field, members are welcome to hawk their old garb and accessories for sale or trade, be that in-game (IG) coin or out-of-game (OOG) monies. Choose to set up your wares in Town Center or at your own site, but players must provide their own means of sale; tables, decorum decorations to hide mundane things, price tags (specifying IG or OOG cost), payment methods/arrangements, receipts, if they'll accept haggling, etc.

As a reminder, tags cannot be purchased with OOG money and non-tagged items cannot be stolen IG (that's OOG theft). The focus of this yard sale is for the trade/sale of non-tagged items, in compliance with Game Rules (like how real weapons are not allowed on field at any time, etc), that are directly related to fantasy/medieval LARPing. Tagged items can of course already be bought/sold IG for coin at any time. It is up to the buyer and seller to come to an agreement on OOG payment, whether that is cash or electronic payment later that evening / after the event, and if the item will be held until payment is received, etc. As a reminder, the IG term “federals” refers to cash/USD and we’ll be using the term “payspell” to reference electronic payments and ""non-certified"" to reference non-tagged items.

These Yard Sales will be repeating events on the following Saturdays, 12pm-4pm: Regular Event 3/19, RP Event 4/30, RP Event 6/3, and RP Event 10/1.

If you'd like to share what you're bringing ahead of time, feel free to post within this announcement comment thread.

If you have any questions, please contact Anna or Karigan! We can’t wait to see what everyone brings.

3.1 - Town Hall Meeting

Hello everyone,

I know we are all looking forward to the new start of the Larp season! As we all start to get ready for this next season, the player reps would like to meet with everyone to answer any questions you may have from the winter BOD meetings and get a chance to talk you all of you. The town hall meeting will take place March 16th at 8pm. We look forward to talking to everyone and getting everyone one pumped for this upcoming season.

Thank you,

Odd Year Rep & Even Year Rep

2.18 - GM Seeks Theme & Story Assistance

2.8 - BLD Announcement for Site Caretakers

Hello,

We would like to make an announcement that we're extending the Site Update Form submission to February 28th. We implore all current site caretakers to email us their yearly form at bld@kanar.club.

Thank you! -Holly

1.24 - QM Announcement

Hello everyone! I can't express how excited I am to be taking over the QM1 position! For those of you who weren't able to make it to the B.O.D meeting, my goals are to help turn the QM position into a GM assistant position/costume department with a member of staff in rotation helping npcs prepare for modules to create a more indepth atmosphere.

To do this we will need tons of help which means QM work days and EXP for assisting! :) We also need some crafting experts who are willing to share some of their tricks of the trade. If you have any experience in prop making, costuming, sewing, face painting/makeup, resin casting, leather working, 3d printing, etc please email me your resume with photos (costumes, props, past commissions, etc) and we can set up a time for an interview.

P.S. If you have any questions about the position, feel free to message me on FB. All resumes and photos for QM applications should be sent to qm@kanar.club.

Thank you,

Daniel Miller, Quartermaster 1

1.14 - Staff Wishlists

Want to donate time instead of items? Keep an eye out for work days throughout the year or reach out to the firsts to ask how you can help.

1.4 - 2022 Site Caretaker

Hello KGE Family,

The BLD has sent out Caretaker Forms to anyone who was previously listed as a site caretaker. If you believe yourself to be one of these caretakers, we ask that you check your email and fill out the form by February 1st, 2021. After this date, any unclaimed sites will become open for the BLD to find new Caretakers for. If you have not received an email and you believe you should have, please feel free to email us at bld@kanar.club.

The form is provided here and linked in the emails through Google Docs, and you can submit it back to us in two ways. Print it, fill it out physically, and scan it back onto your computer or take a photo. Then attach that to your email. Open the document and fill it out electronically. It is an interactive PDF.

Thank you so much for your time, and we hope you have a wonderful season.

12.30 - Winter Feast

Good morning Kanarbees,

In lieu of the cancellation of feast, the game masters thought we could make some considerations. If you have a group of people ( no more than ten) that you would like to gather up to have a one-day “feast”, please email the gm staff to get a one-day approval. A few mandatory terms will need to be met to be approved for a one-day. GM staff will need a point of contact for the feast, the person “in charge“ of said feast will need to submit an after-action report of said feast including a list of the up to ten members who attended. If you are interested or have any questions, please contact Game Master staff at gm@kanar.club. Thank you and happy holidays!

-Steve Jones, Game Master

12.9 - Econ / GM

Hi guys! Currently some changes are being made to our game economics as well as the economics position, while in this transition period some time frames may be slowed in the process. We appreciate your patience!!

GM 1st - Steve J.

11.27 - Econ / PM Seeking Crafting Recipies

If you have any crafting recipes that are not in the crafting packets to submit them to the playmaster staff so they can be processed and considered for inclusion in the crafting packets.

July Announcements (7.22)

7.22 - Play Test Update

Hello club membership! We are using the following list of spells for the playtesting this weekend. The following list will replace the original playtest spells. They will be posted on the board. See the PM or GM to participate for more info.

Jeremiah, PM1

7.22 - OOG Etiquette

Hi guys!!! Your friendly neighborhood GM here. Just wanted to have a quick discussion about etiquette and how to flag down a staff member. The GSOM has been trying to set up parking lot shifts and we thought it would be a good idea to tell you how to get ahold of one of the staff while they are on the field.

If trying to speak to a marshal about something not immediately important, you should stand near the staff member and wait for them to look at you. When said staff member looks in your direction, place your hand on your head and the staff member should nod. After, take your hand off your head and hang out nearby. The staff will wrap up their roleplay or scene and speak with you after.

If something warrants a more important approach, you should go to the staff member and let them know that you "Have a matter of marshal importance to speak with them about." With that said, we look forward to seeing you all Friday!!! Don't forget the bug spray and extra socks.

7.18 - New Items on Safety Wishlist

Hello, players! New items have been added to the Safety Department's Amazon wishlist. We offer 1xp per $2 value donated (shipping included). If you'd like to get some bonus XP, check it out! https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/genericItemsPage/21VEQ50PA4HN5

7.13 - Changes to the Signout Form

Hello everyone,

A number of members have asked for direction in regards to how Season Pass holders should fill out their signouts, if they did not attend the event but still wanted to learn skills. In the prior sign-out form, if you chose that you attended zero-days, the form would take you past the skills learning section and not allow you to learn skills. Which makes perfect sense, unless you're a Season Pass holder and you want to learn skills!

Under the “Days Attended” section, you will now see a “0 - Season Pass” selection in the dropdown list. Choosing this will allow you to move forward to the “Skills Learned” section of the signout and allow you to proceed with learning your skills.

Hopefully this little change will help the Season Pass holders with their current signouts as well as to catch up on any missing ones, without having to “flub the numbers” to get to the skills area!

If you have any questions about this change, or just need help in general, feel free to contact us via email at any time.

Thank you

Glen “Rath” Adkins, CBM1st

7.9 - Change to On-Field Play Test

Hello club members. This is your Playmaster first delivering a message that the field-wide playtest scheduled for the upcoming event is being postponed. There will instead be modulized playtesting of the spell system this event.

We, the Playmaster staff, lost a valuable team member and do not have a large enough staff to monitor a field-wide playtest in lieu of this development. It was our great pleasure to work with you.

I would like to apologize to the great many players that were excited about this playtest. I implore you to reach out to the Playmaster and game master staffs during the event to participate in the module testing of the spell system.

The Playmaster staff is currently accepting applications for team members. Please reach out if you are interested in being part of the Play Master team.

I would also like to take this time to remind everyone that we are a social club of friends and adults.

It is important that we all remember this and treat each other with respect.

Sincerely yours,

Jeremiah Klabis

7.8 - New Field Wide Magic System Play Test

Welcome to the July field-wide playtest of the new magic system. Please familiarize yourselves with the following document as it will be the effective spell system all weekend. If you can cast a tier you have all the spells for that tier. All needed reagents are assumed to be had for the playtest. Let's have fun and use a lot of magic!

Module Land Off Limits Until Further Notice

Module Land Off Limits Until Further Notice

Safety and the BLD are currently monitoring a hazardous land situation. There are a number of trees in Module Land that are about to fall or have already fallen over the winter. They have caused some damage to the D’Cather area and made trails impassable at several points in the loop. A number of trees are brittle enough to be pushed over by hand, leading to serious concerns about players accidentally felling trees during modules. As of right now, the Safety and BLD departments request that players avoid the NPC area past the old Brisbane camp and remain strictly on the trails when walking to Tent City or the Supply Depot.

COVID-19 Update

To the Kanar Gaming Enterprises Community,

As you're very much aware, everyone is experiencing the effects of COVID-19 - from social distancing, to closed restaurants, to discussions about lowering the curve. The Safety Staff (Kiri) and the Board of Directors have been monitoring this situation and discussing options. The conclusion is an obvious one, though not one we hoped for: cancelling the April event.

After discussion with staff members, we have come up with some alternatives for our active members:

  1. If you are up to date on payments, have submitted an ARF, and either attended the March event OR purchased a Season Pass, you will be allowed to submit a free sign-out within the normal window of time for the April event (April 3-13). Please do not submit a sign-out prior to April 3, as our staff are still working to complete March's updates. If you are a Season Pass holder, you will be afforded 30 XP points.  Please make sure to mark it in your sign out.  If you are not a Season Pass holder, you will be given the normal 18.  You will still be allowed to perform between-event actions as normal, including crafting.

  2. The GM team has stated that a Mystic Quill is still being worked on.  If you feel like providing some articles, feel free to submit to quill@kanar.club.

  3. We are in talks with BLD/Adopt-A-Road about ways to earn some volunteer XP while still following safety protocols.

  4. I am hoping that other staff will post ways which players can earn volunteer XP during this break as well.

I've directed our volunteer bookkeeper (Matt) to get in contact with those who were missing items, so that they may partake in this - those emails were sent out a couple of days ago. If you have any thoughts or discussions, please email the appropriate staff members.

I know this is not what we would like. However, safety is our utmost concern and we must do what we must to maintain it. We will evaluate future events within the same time frame (roughly 2 weeks from event) and make decisions then. Thank you all for your continued effort to make this community great. If you have specific questions for me, please email them at president@kanar.club.

Open Safety Staff Position

The Safety Staff is looking for volunteers!

As Kanar’s Safety team, we’re here to make sure players stay safe and healthy. Our primary job is responding to medical issues that arise on the field of play; this includes things like checking cuts and sprains, treatment for dehydration, and getting more seriously injured players proper medical attention. As this is a job done during events, we ask that volunteers make sure they can attend events regularly.

If you have medical experience (especially first responder training) and are interested in joining the Safety team, please email safety@kanar.club or find Kiri (Margaret) at an event.

Thank you for your interest,
Kiri B.
